Sharad Pawar respected, ED politicizes bank case: Shiv Sena
Mumbai: In defense of anti-Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar, Shiv Sena parliamentary party leader Sanjay Raut says that a money laundering case was filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) against Pawar before the assembly elections in Maharashtra. Jaana has proved to be life-threatening for his party.
The ED had earlier this week registered a money laundering case against several people including Sharad Pawar, his nephew Ajit Pawar and a former deputy chief minister in connection with the alleged scam of Maharashtra State Government Bank (MSCB).
In this regard, Pawar had earlier said that he would go to the ED's office on Friday, but later on meeting top police officials, he deferred his plan citing law and order problems.
Raut told a Marathi channel on Friday that the ED case has taken a political color and that the powerful Maratha leader Pawar is a respected person.
He said, 'I am looking at it (ED's case) from the perspective of the next assembly elections. Those who know Pawar and understand the politics of the state will say that the investigation agency has made the matter political without any reason. ”He said,“ Pawar is the top leader of Maharashtra and the country. He has an image of his own. '
Raut said that his party has political differences with Pawar, but they will not come in the way of supporting him.
He said, 'We have political differences with Pawar. (Founder of Shiv Sena) We have been criticizing him since Balasaheb Thackeray… fighting elections against him…. Sometimes they win and sometimes they lose. They have also lost against us.
Raut said, Maharashtra has a culture, whenever something goes wrong, we all stand with each other. Raj Thackeray was questioned by the ED when Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thakar spoke in his support.
Raut said, "Even social activist Anna Hazare has said that Pawar has nothing to do with the bank scam. Hazare is a political opponent of Pawar and has made several agitations against the NCP chief.
Raut also cited BJP leader and former minister Eknath Khadse. Khadse had said that the bank scam was discussed in the Assembly but Pawar's name did not come up.
He said, 'His name is not even in the complaint on the basis of which the High Court is taking action. Just because some of his colleagues are involved in this, he is being called the kingpin. It does not come under the law.
Raut said that neither BJP nor government has any role in this. He said, 'Action is being taken on the order of the High Court. The investigative agency has named Pawar's name to ensure that a downtrodden party like NCP gets a chance to wake up just before the election. This has woken the NCP cadre to sleep. '
Let me tell you that Pawar, 78, has denied the allegations, while his party says that the ED investigation is politically motivated.
