To safeguard the visit, the Government of Jammu and Kashmir, security forces and the Ministry of Interior of the European Union have made adequate arrangements. Security agencies are taking extra precautions on this amnesty pilgrimage in view of the strong stand taken with Pakistan and the all-round operation to wipe out terrorists in the valley. Especially after the 2017 attack and the Pulwama attack of February this year, the level of danger has also increased due to the attack on Amarnath Yatra.
In the late 1980s, there was a revolt of terrorism in the heart of Pakistan in Kashmir. The militants first targeted the Amarnath Yatra in 1993. But Amarnath Yatra was the biggest attack in 2000. In which 32 people lost their lives. The attack on pilgrim buses in 2017 is the latest attack. Since 1993, in 26 years, there have been 14 attacks on the Amarnath Yatra, where 68 people have lost their lives.

1993: The first attack on the Amarnath Yatra occurred in 1993 amid continuing threats from Pakistani-backed terrorist groups Harkat-ul-Ansar and Lashkar-e-Taiba. Three people died in two attacks that year.

In 1994, there was a terrorist attack on the Amarnath Yatra. Where two Amarnath pilgrims lost their lives.

The third attack on Amarnath pilgrims took place in 1995. There were three attacks against Amarnath pilgrims that year, although no casualties were reported.

In 1996, there were two attacks against Amarnath pilgrims. But there are no casualties and property.

August 2, 2000: Terrorists' biggest conspiracy

In 2000, terrorists attacked the Amarnath Yatra. On 2 August 2000, militants opened indiscriminate fire at the Pahalgam Amarnath Yatra headquarters. In this attack, 32 worshipers, local shopkeepers and porters were killed. More than 60 people were injured in this barbaric terrorist attack. The terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba was informed about the attack. The attack took place for the Amarnath Yatra, the largest ever.

July 20, 2001: Grenades fired at pilgrimage camps

August 6, 2002: Grenade attack on the passenger camp

On August 6, 2002, Lashkar militants hurled grenades near the Nenwan camp in Pahalgam and opened fire. The attack killed 9 people and injured 27 others.

2006: Targeted bus passengers created

In 2006, the terrorists targeted the Amarnath Yatra again. Terrorists hurled grenades at Amarnath bus. Where a devotee is killed.

10 July 2017: After 11 years of peace, Kohram

After the 2006 attack, the terrorists were unable to successfully target the Amarnath Yatra for nearly 11 years. But on 10 July 2017, the terrorists again targeted the Amarnath Yatra. In Anantnag, terrorists fired indiscriminately on Amarnath passenger buses. Where seven Amarnath pilgrims died and 32 others were injured.

However, these passengers are not only part of the official convoy of security forces. So the terrorists succeed in their plot. Leaders led by terrorist Lashkar Abu Ismail planned and carried out attacks. Security forces conducted several operations against the terrorist modules involved in the attack and removed all terrorist modules within 60 days.

Now this time there are tough challenges before the security forces to make the journey safe and secure. Amarnath Yatra will run from 1 July to 15 August 2019 this year. Security forces have made elaborate security arrangements. Last year, 2,85,006 pilgrims visited the holy cave of Amarnath. Providing security for a large number of pilgrims is a major challenge. Keeping this in mind, 40 thousand troops of security forces have been deployed this time.
